Biscuits and Scones
Warm homemade biscuits and scones will impress your guests at your next brunch as well as become a treat for your whole family. In this participation class, students will learn techniques for making delicious Old Fashioned Buttermilk Biscuits and a tasty Sweet Potato Drop Biscuit, flavored with cinnamon, ginger and toasted pecans. Angel Biscuits are a simple yeast-risen hand-forned biscuit with a melt-in-your mouth crumb. Sedona Cream Scones are Carole's adaption of the heavenly scones that she was served in a restaurant in Sedona, Arizona. Students will also prepare Country Cherry Honey Scones, a simple recipe chock full of sweet dried cherries and flavored with orange zest and brown sugar. All of these breakfast treats will be topped off with a tangy cream cheese and butter Cranberry Orange Spread. Students will learn techniques including: preparing, rolling and cutting biscuit and scone dough, drop biscuits, hand-rolled biscuits and a no-fail method for working with yeast.
