The name of this tea derives from the fine silvery-white hairs on the unopened buds of the tea plant—giving the plant a whitish appearance. Produced exclusively in China and highly prized, these teas are withered in natural sunlight and lightly processed, which creates a light and fragrant brew. Its minimal processing means it has more nutrients and less caffeine than green and black teas.
