Backyard Barbecue Sauce

1/3 Cup Canola Oil
1/2 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
3 Cups Chili Sauce
2 Cups Ketchup
2 Cups Water
1/4 Cup Prepared Mustard
1/4 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
1/4 Cup Cider Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2--1 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Ground Pepper

1. Heat the oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion and sauté until the onion is transparent. Be careful to not burn the garlic.

2. Stir in the chili sauce, ketchup and water. Bring to a boil. Whisk in the mustard, lemon juice, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Make sure everything is well combined.

3. Reduce the heat to simmer. Simmer 5-10 minutes. Add the cayenne, salt and black pepper. Simmer another 30 minutes. Use immediately, or refrigerate until ready to use.
