Ingredients

1/2 Package Frozen Puff Pastry
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon Water
1    13 Ounce Wheel of Brie
1/2 Cup Fruit Preserves, Chutney or Whole Cranberry Sauce
1/4 Cup Toasted Sliced Almonds OR Pignoli Nuts
Crackers for Serving

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment and set aside.

1. Defrost the puff pastry according to package directions.

2. Mix the egg and water together and set aside.

3. Unfold the pastry on a lightly floured surface. Roll to a circle slightly larger than 14 inches. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut the edges to create a 14-inch circle.

4. Spread the preserves (or chutney or cranberry sauce) over the pastry, leaving the outer 1-inch clear. Sprinkle the nuts over the preserves.

5. Place the brie in the center of the circle. Brush the clean edge with the egg wash.

6. Fold the edges up and over the brie to completely enclose the cheese. Trim the excess pastry to make it easier to pinch and seal the edges.

7. Place the wrapped brie on the prepared pan. If you wish, you may cut decorative shapes from the pastry scraps and attach them to the top of the brie, using the egg wash as glue. Brush the remaining egg wash over the wrapped cheese.

8. Bake 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let sit at least 30 minutes before serving.
