
French Toast Sandwiches
Ingredients
12 Slices Cinnamon Bread
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar
1 Teaspoons Vanilla
1 Cup Half and Half
2 Eggs
12 oz. Cream Cheese
1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon
Butter
Warm Maple Syrup
Preparation
1. Cut the crusts off the bread and cover to keep them from drying out.
2. Combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla in a small bowl. Mix well to thoroughly combine.
3. Spread about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture on a slice of bread, but don't spread it all the way to the edges. Top with a second slice of bread. Crimp the edges with a fork to enclose the cream cheese, being careful that you don't tear holes in the bread.
4. Combine the half and half, eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Whisk to completely blend the ingredients.
5. Preheat a large griddle or heavy frying pan. Add a small amount of butter to lightly coat the surface.
6. Dip the sandwiches in the egg mixture and place them on the griddle. Do not soak them or they will be mushy! Grill the sandwiches until they are a golden brown on one side about 2-3 minutes. Flip them and grill another minute or two on the other side. Repeat until all sandwiches are grilled. Serve with butter and warm maple syrup.
