Baked Brie With Caramelized Apples, Onions And Bacon
1-14 ounce round Brie cheese
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup toasted pecans, chopped
1/2 stick unsalted butter plus 2 tablespoons
4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
1 baguette, sliced
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
In a large saute pan, melt half of the butter and add the cardamom. Slice apples into thin slices and saute until the apples caramelize, around 10 minutes. Remove apples from the pan and set aside. Add the remaining butter and melt it. Turn off the heat and add the brown sugar, toasted pecans and crumbled bacon. Combine mixture and set aside.
Next, place the Brie in an ovenproof pie dish. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture over the top of the Brie. Place in the oven for 5 minutes, then remove and top with the caramelized apples, cooking for an additional 3 minutes. Serve with sliced baguette.
